A motorcyclist and a passenger in a car were seriously injured Sunday morning after the Harley-Davidson motorcycle crashed into the side of the vehicle on River Road, according to Puyallup police.
Around 10:20 a.m. Sunday, the motorcyclist was headed east on River Road from the county into the city, reportedly driving recklessly and at dangerous speeds, Chief Scott Engle said.
Meanwhile, a woman and a teenager in a car were turning left from River Road into the parking lot at a Value Village store in the area. That’s when the motorcycle slammed into the passenger side of the car at a high speed, he said.
The man on the motorcycle, who police suspect was impaired, suffered serious injuries, as did the male teen passenger, Engle said. Both were taken to area hospitals.
During the investigation, traffic was delayed on eastbound River Road.
Chief Engle said about 2:20 p.m. Sunday that River Road was about to fully reopen to traffic.
